Principal Sammataro

Welcome to Westerly Middle School! We welcome you to our learning community, where it is our mission to create an inspiring, challenging, and supportive environment where students are encouraged and assisted in reaching their highest potential.

I am honored to begin my first year as principal for the 2026-2027 school year. Westerly Middle School is where I started my career 27 years ago in this district. I’ve served as a middle school developmental reading teacher, high school English teacher and department head, high school Dean of Students, and as the District ELA Coordinator. Most importantly, I am a wife and proud mother of three beautiful children; we are all Westerly Bulldogs!

Thank you for your trust and partnership with me and our staff during this stage of your student’s life. The middle school years are such a unique time in a student’s development. It is a time for managing greater independence, for exploring new interests and topics, and for establishing the foundation of lifelong skills. In working together, we can look forward to a positive, productive and successful school year.
